Hash with Ash

Updated: Sep 29, 2020

Never have i ever... celebrated my birthday since the 16th one. So, celebrating the 25th, sounded like a good idea for a change. 9 years apart, i did not know what to expect.

My best friend, Preshita, who works for Conde Nast, used her expertise to actually put this crazy, dramatic, non-cliché Bollywood party, “Hash with Ash” together. The venue was my very home in Mumbai. Everything was set around one of my all time favourite talk shows, Koffee with Karan. The invites were especially designed with the red and gold, keeping the essence of the show intact. They gave a sneak peak of the party and what lay ahead of us. All the invitees had to dress up as celebrities, who would potentially be invited to ‘Koffee with Karan’.

Just like the show, there was a hamper filled with fun munchies and some cue cards with the name of the party. The cake too highlighted “Hash with Ash”, loud and clear.

There were some fun games planned, similar to the ones on the show, including rapid fire and Bollywood quiz. The rapid fire was legit based on questions about me and my life. Who would have seen that coming! There was even a truth and dare round to spice things up. And of course, there had to be a round of coffee shots with Karan, except we had the alcohol ones with me. The night was so fun! I was surprised at how everyone was a sport and participated in the dressing-up and the games, without a fuss.

I usually don’t throw birthday parties. This was the first I had had since I turned 16 and was totally worth it. This was a new phase of my life and I was glad to have started it with so much enthusiasm. Koffee with karan had been my guilty pleasure and I had once joked about having a birthday party, based on the talk show. My best friend literally went all the way to turn it into a reality. Man, am I blessed!
