1920s Speakeasy Party

Updated: Oct 5, 2020

‘Come as a flapper, come as you are.

Come as a gangster or a silent movie star.

It’s gonna be fun no matter what because it’s my Bday!

Just bring yourself and I’ll take care of the rest.’

Thinking about my party fantasies, the first theme that breathes in my mind and gets me alive is a 1920s Speakeasy. The idea of one, on my 27th birthday, sounded just about perfect. A full-fledged invite was sent across friends and family. Taking inspiration from the classic concept of speakeasies, the guests had a message to decode and then use the code to enter venue. The bouncer there then gave the next clue which, when solved, lead to the entry to the main party area.

The inspiration behind the whole decor was the Great Gatsby, from my bachelors time in New York. Every nook and corner was designed and detailed to T; keeping in mind the theme. The place was oozing with the black and golden vibe of Great Gatsby. A wall was dedicated to the infamous spectacle wall of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg. The venue provided the most perfect vintage backdrop of iconic Hawa Mahal. The place was lit to life by the notes of the Jazz singer and the magnificent display of fireworks.

Following the traditions of speakeasies, cocktails were served in teacups. The dessert table was glistening with gold-colored elements. Hukkah filled the space with the old school vibes. From decor to delicacies, every element stayed true to the old, vintage theme.

Everyone present was dressed in vintage classics and, delved and grooved to the great music played at the DJ console. Kicking the heels up, knocking the drinks down, and partying like it’s 1920; it was like living through my very own dream, only better.
